✨ A Travel Story – “Shaji & Family’s Alibag Escape” 🎄🌊
Every year, during the joyful season of Christmas, Shaji and his big-hearted family of 25 pack their bags and set off to explore a new destination together. This time, they chose the charming coastal town of Alibag — a hidden gem just a few hours away from their hometown, Mumbai.
For this tight-knit Christian family, it wasn’t just about ticking places off a list — it was about creating memories, soaking in culture, sharing laughter, and spending quality time together. And Alibag welcomed them with open arms!
🏖 Arriving to the Sound of Waves
As the family arrived at their beautiful resort, the warm December sun and cool coastal breeze set the perfect tone for a relaxed beginning. After a hearty lunch and some leisure time to unwind, the fun began.
In the golden hours of the evening, the family headed to the Varsoli beach for water sports and beach games. Laughter echoed as kids and adults alike jumped into jet skis, banana boats, and more — proving once again that age is just a number when you’re on vacation!
🏰 A Walk Through History
A beautiful day brought with it a touch of heritage and storytelling. The family explored a majestic Portuguese Korlai fort, guided by a local historian who brought the ruins to life with tales of valiant warriors, ancient trade routes, and architectural marvels. It was like stepping back in time — a highlight for the history buffs in the group!
But the day’s cultural richness didn’t stop there.
For lunch, we took them to a 350-year-old heritage home, where they were treated to an authentic coastal feast prepared with love by local hosts. As they dined under wooden rafters and antique clay roof tiles, they were surprised with a vibrant performance of local folk music and traditional dance — a beautiful window into the spirit of Konkan culture.
🌿 Into the Wild
The day of exploration was a treat for nature lovers. The family journeyed into a wildlife sanctuary, where the trails whispered stories of biodiversity. They spotted butterflies, birds, insects, and hidden wonders of the Western Ghats — eyes wide with awe, cameras clicking nonstop.
The visit ended with a rustic lunch featuring authentic Maharashtrian flavors — simple, soulful, and satisfying.
🎉 Ringing in the New Year: Alibag Style!
As the sun set on 31st December, Vincent and his family gathered at the resort for a joyful New Year’s Eve celebration — complete with music, enjoying Alibag’s famous Popti, and heartfelt toasts to the year gone by. Under the starlit Alibag sky, they welcomed the new year surrounded by love, laughter, and the joy of togetherness.
